Raking The Rocks

"This story plants the seeds for adulthood, accomplishment and love for one's parents and self-respect." - Sheila Kincaid, children's book author, Battle Creek, MI

"Between laughing and having a lump in my throat, I thoroughly enjoyed it!" - LtCol. John E Forde, Jr., USMC, (Retired)

"My high school students 'raked' their imaginations after reading 'Raking the Rocks' in my class and created some of their own 'brilliant' essays!"- Nancy Brown, Quantico, VA High School English Teacher and Educator

"I really enjoyed using 'Raking the Rocks' with my fourth grade class! I started the afternoon of the first day of school by reading the book to the class. We discussed the story and how it ties in to the meanings of self-discipline, pride in one's work, and jobs well done!I also shared the book with parents at Back to School Night. Several moms and dads took it home to read with the entire family. Often, when my students complain about doing a seemingly pointless task, I just say, 'We're just raking rocks!' They get the point. Thank you, Phil, for an inspirational and warmly humorous vehicle for teaching all of us at every age to appreciate the little jobs and tasks in our lives."- Carol Stansbury, 4th Grade Teacher, Apple Blossom School, Sebastopol, CA.

"Through humor, 'Raking the Rocks' conveys the importance of self-discipline, responsibility and pride in one's work. Well done!I want to personally commend Phil for what he has done for our country's youth. As an educator and a public speaker, he has sent a positive and compelling message to our young people...one that our future leaders need to hear."- Gen. C.C. Krulak, USMC (Retired)Former Commandant of the Marine Corps
